Cross-interview with Jules & Angélique

In October, we introduced you through a carousel in a LinkedIn Post our two new colleagues, Adrien & Mélody, who joined Nicoka in September as Business Analysts.

This time, we are once again introducing the arrival of two new colleagues, Jules & Angélique both of whom joined in March.

  • Angélique, HR consultant, the eagle eye of Nicoka!
  • Jules, development intern, our new protégé, the AI specialist!

Discover them below!

Angélique & Jules, tell us a bit about yourselves, where are you from?

Angélique: I'm 38 years old, a mother of 3 children, and I've always worked in the HR field. (aka eagle eye)

I started as a Payroll Manager in a large industrial group, then as an HR Consultant and HR Project Manager in SMEs.

I love this profession because of the diversity of topics (training, recruitment, labor law, management...), learning nourishes me, I'm curious about everything!

I live in Vendée near La Roche Sur Yon. I love meeting new people, enjoying nature, and I'm also passionate about board games.

Jules: I'm 24 years old, I'm from Brittany, from Morbihan where I did a BAC in Science and Technology of Information (STI2D). I chose this because I'm more practical than theoretical, I need to see my work evolve in my hands (or under my keyboard)! I love fixing and tinkering with objects around me, whether it's the neighbor's computer or connecting my phone to my car to turn on the heating remotely!

I've always loved technology, science, and innovation, so naturally, I joined an engineering school after spending two years in preparatory class.

After this prep class, I decided to take a gap year, I simply paused my studies due to COVID-19, and worked several months in a vineyard in Anjou. It was very enriching, it took me out of my comfort zone, and above all, it allowed me to breathe during this complicated period.

Tell us, how did you both end up at Nicoka?

Angélique: I deployed the Nicoka HRIS at my previous employer (a company with about a hundred employees), I led the deployment project from A to Z (from writing the specifications to user training through all the configuration stages) thanks to the regular support of Xavier and the collective involvement of the HR team.

After an 18-month fixed-term contract in this company, I wanted to continue my career on this technical aspect of the HR profession, I talked to Xavier, the co-founder: and now I find myself in Team NICOKA!

Jules:I was looking for an internship in Angers and I simply came across a Nicoka internship offer, then everything happened very quickly, and here I am in the Nicoka team.

Jules, you joined us for a 6-month internship, can you tell us which degree you are preparing for and at which school?

Jules: I am preparing for an ESEO engineering degree, oriented towards Data-Science and Biomedical. ESEO is an engineering school in computer science and electronics located in Angers.

What project(s) or mission(s) are you working on?

Angélique: I am responsible for writing various types of HR content (blog articles, website redesign, LinkedIn posts...) and technical help content for our support page.

I also manage the support for HRIS users (current and new) and train them in configuring and using the various existing features in our tool. My goal is to make the user autonomous in their configuration and personalization of their HRIS.

I also work on the support side to provide first-level assistance. I also conduct HRIS demonstration meetings for those who want to discover it as part of their comparative study.

Jules: I work on the issue of CV data extraction, the "parsing". Creating a classic parsing algorithm is a difficult task since there are countless different CVs. So, we have to adapt to all models. My job is to improve Nicoka's existing parsing with Artificial Intelligence. AI excels in understanding natural language, which is very useful for correctly interpreting the information contained in CVs. The goal is to later integrate this technology into other modules at Nicoka.

Jules, can you tell us more about AI for CV parsing, can you explain how it could improve the recruitment process?

Jules: AI can accurately identify key information in CVs, such as work experience, skills, and academic qualifications. This accuracy improves the quality of matches between candidates and positions.

Other benefits: it also reduces the time needed to sort and evaluate applications, as it directly extracts key information.

Bias reduction: it can help minimize unconscious biases that can occur during manual CV evaluation. This contributes to promoting a more fair and inclusive recruitment process.

Angélique, tell us how your work integrates with Jules' work?

Angélique: I do a lot of research on the future of HR, so I may be led to submit ideas, suggestions related to the role that AI could play in our tool. As for the technical feasibility, I leave it to the experts on our development team to evaluate!

What do you like about your job?

Angélique: What I like most about my job at Nicoka is above all: the diversity of companies, the transmission and pedagogy, as well as continuous improvement.

Jules: What I love most is the freedom I am given to experiment and explore solutions of my choice. I also really appreciate the work environment and setting (the offices, the city).

If you had to describe the work atmosphere at Nicoka, what would it be?

Angélique: Work relationships are based on trust, everyone contributes to the building according to their background! The team is very open and answers my questions when I need help.

Jules: The atmosphere is great! The team is young and everyone gets along well!

And if you had to teach us some well-known expressions from where you come from?

Angélique:

  • Bibi: Me
  • Lock the door: Close the door
  • A pocket: A bag
  • See you this afternoon: See you this afternoon

  • Jules:

  • Demat: Hello
  • Yec'hed mat: Cheers
